Nomads Connect in Valencia: the first València Nomads Hub event focused on integrating nomadic talent into the local innovation ecosystem.
The València Nomads Hub project, an initiative of València Innovation Capital promoted by the Valencia City Council, hosted the first edition of Nomads Connect, an event designed to strengthen the connection between international professionals and Valencia’s innovation ecosystem.
The gathering brought together nearly one hundred attendees from multiple countries and featured two panel discussions alongside an institutional address. The central question guiding the event was clear: how can Valencia evolve from being an attractive destination for global talent into a place where that talent builds long term connections and professional roots?
Ecosystem as Competitive Advantage

Panel 1: Valencia, the Ecosystem for Digital Nomads
The first panel explored the role of the local ecosystem in attracting and retaining international talent. Participants included Lodewijk Cuypers (Globexs), Francesc de Paula Pons García (The Terminal Hub) and Vladislav Busko (Startup Valencia).
The conversation highlighted that while Valencia already offers strong fundamentals such as climate, quality of life and competitive cost of living, these factors alone are not enough. What ultimately determines whether international professionals stay is the strength of the ecosystem. This means the ability to connect newcomers with communities, companies, opportunities and local networks from the moment they arrive.

Panel 2: Digital Nomads Integrating within a Community
The second panel focused on the transition from visitor to active community participant. Maya Middlemiss (Remote Work Europe) and Artem Garnyshev (How2Spanish) shared insights on the practical barriers many digital nomads face when trying to integrate locally.
Language, access to professional networks and the creation of meaningful connections were identified as key challenges. The discussion focused on practical approaches that can help international professionals become active contributors to Valencia’s social and economic ecosystem.
Active Audience Participation

The open format of the event encouraged strong participation from attendees. Participants shared personal experiences, raised questions and discussed the realities of relocating and integrating into a new city as international professionals.
This exchange reinforced one of the core objectives of València Nomads Hub: building a community where international talent can easily connect with local actors and opportunities.
Institutional Support

The event closed with remarks from Paula Llobet Vilarrasa, Councillor for Tourism, Innovation and Investment Attraction at the Valencia City Council.
She reaffirmed the city’s commitment to positioning Valencia as a hub for international talent and emphasized that the goal is not only to attract digital nomads but also to support their long term integration into the local innovation ecosystem and the broader development of the city.
Nomads Connect marks the beginning of a series of initiatives led by València Nomads Hub aimed at strengthening connections between global talent and Valencia’s innovation community.
